Then right after the half way point, all the leaders will make pit stops, the heavens will open up showing the track as Brad Smith is about to make his pit stop. And Brad Smith will finally after 32 years get his first top 10 finish 15. Self either overdrove turn 1 or tried a late dive to make it 3 wide, hit Deegan in the left rear pretty hard, she slid up into Gray where he spun. Gray said, in the car, he thought Deegan turned him. Team told him it was the #25. He's getting tired of getting hit by the him. Gave it the old, "what goes around" treatment. Note that Deegan had to check up a lot so I believe she ended up dropping behind Self and Moffitt. 17. There's a time and place to make that move, and turn 2 on lap 2 is definitely not it. Self also seemed upset in his interview today when he kept going on and on about how the ex-K&N teams have so much more of an advantage right now with cars and engines...never mind the fact that Venturini and JGR have dominated the season so far running the ARCA spec engine and not the old K&N-spec engine. Guess that shouldn't be too surprising though seeing as Billy Venturini was interviewed at IRP during the race and talked about the supposed severe disadvantage his cars had that day...while one of his cars was on its way to a win while leading 80% of the laps on the night. 21. derry posted: 08.01.2020 - 11:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Self has been getting a little punchy in recent years. I swear whoever is in the main VMS car every year has an attitude change. Eckes seemingly is the only exception I can remember. 22. Mile501 posted: 08.02.2020 - 6:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @20 - Honestly, I can see his point. If you look at Self's stats this year, in the last 7 races, he has only finished higher than 5th once and he has only led 34 laps. All the laps he has led were early in the races in which he started on the pole because he's the point leader. In a series with fewer than 10 competitive cars, that's not very impressive. I had expected him to put up better numbers than that. 23. shelia posted: 08.02.2020 - 8:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Self seems bitter cause he has not got a ride in a higher level when the younger guys have. Was wondering why he hasn't? does anyone think it's his attitude especially when he is interviewed? 24. Sector posted: 08.02.2020 - 8:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #20/#22 I've mentioned how unimpressed I was on his driver's page in post #35. He's very fortunate to be points leader because of how the competition is laid out, and during the time Chandler Smith and Ty Gibbs can't race full time. 25. rm posted: 08.02.2020 - 11:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess that could be part of it, but I think from his perspective it's a much smarter plan to take a fully-funded deal in a lesser series where he can be one of the top dogs rather than trying to piece together a handful of Xfinity races again. Seems like he's just getting straight up beat this year, plus he's faded late in a few races where he should have finished better than he did. I guess his way of venting that frustration is to accuse the officials of conspiring against his team, which is obviously the best way to go about that. 26. AJ posted: 08.02.2020 - 5:35 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @32 You're right, then ARCA did a bare-bones stream on their website. 36. DeeganFan posted: 08.02.2020 - 6:34 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) @34 That won't help, most of the West and East teams aren't interested in traveling very far. Some of them didn't even go to Iowa or Gateway back when they had the West/East combo races. 37. rm posted: 08.02.2020 - 8:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Don't think anybody missed much in this one. Mayer made a strong move to take the lead on the outside and somehow was able to get it to stick for a couple laps. Gibbs overdrove it trying to get the lead back and spun all on his own, and then the rain picked up. Griffith and Green had to be big fans of the Gibbs caution and early checkered flag, they stole some finishes that were a few spots ahead of where they had been running. Not sure how Green even worked his way up to 7th, he was either 10th or 11th nearly the whole race before that. 38. Atlanta had a spring race, a summer race, and a fall race that year. 44.
