Anyword on the #69? 10. rm posted: 08.27.2020 - 12:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) While Thad has been among the final entries quite a few times this year, that won't be the case this week. Despite his lineage and the appeal of being able to utilize Thad and/or Richard Petty in marketing materials for a prospective interested sponsor, he's struggled to find and maintain sponsorship from the get-go in ARCA. He's had a string of late withdrawals and soft commitments to future races that never came to fruition - stating that he would run the full 2019 schedule, or planning on running all the short tracks in 2018, or saying that in his revised 2019 schedule he'd run the whole second half of the year - which has made it hard to get a feel for what his real plan is. I think he was the very last entry that was added to the Daytona field this year, even though he originally announced his deal several weeks earlier in January. Thad's been the lowest priority at DGR as his schedule hasn't been too far off of being race-to-race this year and it shows. This year hasn't gone that great for him due to his inexperience and the hastily prepared cars. He dropped an oil line on lap 2 at Pocono, and in the first Toledo race his car wouldn't even fire on the grid. The team spent the entire first third of the race working on the battery and the ignition system before they finally realized his problem was electrical-related, releasing him to start his race a whopping 80 laps down to the pack. Running behind his teammates all year, and often well behind them at that, hasn't helped his case too much. 11. shelia posted: 08.28.2020 - 10:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) another surprise driver who can not get sponsorship besides Thad and his connection with Petty Motorsports is Jagger Jones. his connection is the Parnelli family 12. Could be interesting if he's in a decently prepared car. 15. AwesomeSandwich posted: 08.29.2020 - 4:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) @14 Too bad he's not 16. The ARCA teams could be seen wheeling their cars out onto the grid at end of NBCSN's IndyCar coverage. 21. He was in contention to win it but fell back late and settled for fourth there. 22. rm posted: 08.30.2020 - 4:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Michael Self wrecked all on his own, losing the handle when Max McLaughlin made a pass on the #25, and was not happy about it at all. His car was all but destroyed, but being in the thick of the championship hunt with Bret Holmes the Venturini crew did their best to keep it rolling and got the car back out on track, though it was several laps down and not at all aerodynamically friendly. Self was bailed out when Deegan, Cabre & Sanchez wrecked a few laps later and allowed Self to lose a lot less ground than he would have otherwise, keeping him just barely ahead of lappers Tim Richmond and Max Calles at the end. Kris Wright had something related to his axle break under one of the cautions, that team cannot catch a break at all. Max McLaughlin had a very impressive drive up through the field, looked like he was the "best of the rest" behind the lead trio of Gibbs/Mayer/Smith - especially after Self wrecked inside of 20 to go. Mayer once again seemed like he had saved his stuff for a late run at Gibbs but much like at Iowa and LOR, he used up whatever advantage he had too quickly when he brushed the wall. After Mayer bested Gibbs in their last three head-to-head battles for wins at Toledo (twice) and Dover, Gibbs got back in the win column here and one-upped Mayer. Jesse Love came from out of nowhere to drive into the top five thanks to the two late cautions. He and his McAnally teammates were outside of the top ten all day otherwise. 23. I cannot understand why they would remove the rule, but I also haven't seen any indication that it's still a thing. 24. He's in for a monster 2021 if he keeps this up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
