After going winless for most of the 1998 ASA season Mike Eddy closes the
year strong with two consecutive wins. This was Eddy's last win with his
famous Goodwrench sponsorship, coming in the agreement's penultimate
race, and last in a Pontiac before switching back to Chevrolets in 1999.

"The Zero Hero" Tom Jones stopped running ASA regularly after 1997 but
came back for this race in a one-off fill-in role, replacing Alec
Pinsonneault in the latter's #93 Chevrolet. Jones turned in a solid run
as his lone start of the season saw him qualify in the top-10 and finish
just outside it.
