Sponsorship woes prevented Mike Eddy from running ASA full time in 1999 but he made his return known by winning in his first start of the season here. This was Eddy's only win of 1999 and his penultimate ASA triumph. 2. The Polar Bear's hibernation from competition clearly did nothing to slow him down, he put a little bit of the bumper of his color-changing Chromalusion-painted DuPont #88 Chevrolet to Sauter with four to go and it got the blue #9 up the track just enough for him to sneak by. Once he got out front Eddy lead the rest of the race as Sauter had to turn his attention to successfully holding up young Jimmie Johnson for second. Ken Alexander spun on the last lap, the leaders thankfully shot by him without issue. 4.
