This was perhaps Stewart's best run in the series as he also led a career-high 40 laps en route to his runner-up finishing position. 3. He and Mike Garvey got together when Garvey tried to pass him low through Turn 2 and it ended with both cars going up the track right into the wall. Kranefuss' #27 Mobil 1 Pontiac was pinched into the outside wall in such a way it high sided and barrel rolled two and a half times before other cars piled into the accident with Mark E. Dismore then crashing into the under side of his car as it rolled and causing a huge fire as a result. There were more than a dozen cars collected in the melee with Rick Johnson also turning over, although remarkable he was able to continue in the race afterward. It brought out the red flag. This was Kranefuss' last ASA start with the accident supposedly playing a part in his decision to step away from the driver's seat. Kranefuss moved up and only ran five ARCA races the following season and a late model race at Hickory in 2002 before stepping away from touring series for good. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
