This was the series' second and final race at the California short track, the only track on the West Coast it ever raced at. 2. RaceFanX posted: 02.02.2020 - 2:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mike Cope initially finished this race in fifth place but lost his result after he was disqualified when his #25 flunked the post-race inspection. The latter years of ASA saw the series mandate all cars run a sealed, spec GM engine and the one in Cope's car was found to have "visual evidence" that it had been illegally altered. The end result was that the team lost its result, all its owner and driver points, and all of its prize money from this race in addition to a 100-point penalty. Cope didn't run anymore ASA races for the rest of the season. 4.
