NASCAR Midwest champ Steve Carlson crosses over and scores his final ASA
victory. Carlson ran a part-time ASA campaign in 2002 and it paid off
with his first win on the tour since he was a series regular in 1997.

Adam Andretti makes his only ASA appearance. He started well but did not
have a good run.

Carlson's win was the only one of 2002 for a Ford driver in ASA. The
Blue Oval teams had been shut out of victory lane for almost two years
before Carlson broke through. It would prove to be Ford's penultimate
win in the series.

Joey Clanton lost 21 laps, and the points lead, in this one after his
#83 Chevrolet broke a 50-cent part but caused enough of an issue that it
required an extended pit stop to repair.
