In 2004 ASA moved the numbers to the rear quarter panel...an ultimately questionable choice. 2002 ASA Joey Clanton scores his only win of 2003, he made just two starts while focusing on the Busch series, and it ends up being the last one of his career. 3. Cywinski finished ninth, one spot in front of Miller, securing his first championship since 1997. 4. rm posted: 10.04.2018 - 5:01 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) There were 9 lead changes among 9 drivers. Russell's car was, of course, carrying the same #34 that Thomas did during his career with the Buffalo Bills. Former teammate and fellow hall of famer Jim Kelly was a part-owner and occasional sponsor of Frank Cicci's Busch Series team around this time, coincidentally also rocking the #34 on the car. Not sure where Thurman's team went from here, they had DNQ'd at Illiana a few weeks prior and intended to enter the race at Salem, held before this Nashville Fairgrounds season finale. The stated goals for the team were to run run a partial schedule in ASA again in 2004 before going Busch racing in 2005. Russell did run ASA in 2004, but was listed as an owner-driver, and additionally he never attempted a Busch race. 6.
