This was the last short track race in ASA history, a tour that focused
on short track competition for years. The series' final three races were
run on super speedways.

Garvey wins at Elko for the second year in a row as ASA runs its final
race in the Gopher State...or any of the Upper Midwest states where the
series was a staple for years.

final start in the series.

To the rear - 1, 17 - failed pre-race inspection

The loss of his starting spot and ensuing point and monetary penalty was
no issue to Garvey as he found himself in the lead around halfway, no
small feat at a track as fast and tight as Elko.
