I never thought I'd see this series on the site. It's cool to see the Midwest late model racers get some recognization. 3. It is difficult because NASCAR (and likewise IMSA) are amongst the worst record keepers auto racing has ever seen. 9. I don't think Formula Atlanta was all that good either. 10. Australian series? What is major down there besides the V8s and the GT Championship? At least Champ Car/Indy Car and F1 have full race-by-race breakdowns. Even the Cup series has incomplete races! Racing records are poor when compared to other sports. One can get detailed boxscores for pre-1900 baseball games! 11. In general oval racing stats just seem hard to find and not just American ones. The "Days of Thunder" European stock car series from 10 years ago seems completely lost (good luck assembling Ben Collins' title season). I went looking for the Great American Truck Race stats (the oval semi truck series in the 1980s) and couldn't find a single race. 12. Another one would be NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, if not because of the confusing format they have. 13. They charged $500 to enter, about what last place in the main pocketed, and some of the slower 48 entries weren't even allowed to run the LCQ and were just sent home. 17. This win at Rockford Speedway would be the first of many on this tour for Carlson, his 40 wins and five championships would be records for the most in this series' NASCAR-era history. Rockford would remain a staple of the tour through the coming years, almost always hosting the season opener. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
