NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racer, and Wisconsin native, Scott Hansen
records his first NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge/AutoZone Midwest Series
victory in memorable fashion with a win at Wisconin International. He
beat a talent-packed field of series regulars and Winston Cup ringers
Ken Schrader, Sterling Marlin, Kenny Wallace, and Michael Waltrip.

This was the first Midwest race for Schrader and Wallace and the only
Midwest series race for Marlin and Waltrip.

Pretty cool that those guys who finished in the top three can say they
finished ahead of Ken Schrader, Sterling Marlin, Kenny Wallace, Michael
Waltrip and Jamie McMurray

Those drivers in the top three are all rather accomplished racers
themselves, especially Hoffman and Carlson. The late model boys usually
more than hold their own when the big-name Cup drivers invade,
especially in the Midwest.

Coy Gibbs was in the #44 MBNA Chevrolet

Just two drivers would make the show out of the 9-car last chance
qualifier race, and a pair of heavy-hitter Cup invitees were the
surprising top two: Michael Waltrip won and Sterling Marlin was second,
sending home drivers such as Mark Kraus and Coy Gibbs. Gibbs, running
the same Chevy he ran in the All-Pro race at Gateway. A massive storm
interrupted qualifying mid-session and drivers that took time after the
storm rolled through posted considerably faster times than those that
made laps prior to the showers, leaving the Cup boys way down near the
bottom of the time trial sheets.
