The track was torn up and rebuilt into a shorter dirt track for 2000 onward although it continued to host prestigious touring series like the World of Outlaws afterward. The race itself was a Friday night shootout that saw title contender Brian Hoppe best Travis Kvapil to pick up his third win of the season. Don't feel too bad for Kvapil though, his first win in this series was just around the corner though and would come on a grander stage once it arrived. This was the only time the NASCAR Midwest series ever ran an oval race in Kansas although they had run on the road course at Heartland Park Topeka one year earlier. 2. rm posted: 09.07.2020 - 9:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lap leaders - Kvapil 1-16, Hoppe 17-125 There were two lead changes among three drivers Margin of victory - 0.765 seconds Time of race - 0:42:13 Average speed - 88.827 mph Cautions - 2 for 10 laps Pole speed - 101.403 mph by Rod Wheeler (8 car invert) Select winnings: Hoppe - $6,400 Kvapil - $3,750 Schuler - $2,150 Kraus - $1,350 McMurray - $1,350 Haseleu - $875 Lemke - $775 Diercks - $675 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
