It was a strong start to the 2000 NASCAR Re/Max Challenge season for Carlson and he'd go on to have seven wins this year en route to the series championship. Paul Menard makes his debut in a major NASCAR touring series but lasts less than four miles before a suspension failure put his #18 on the sidelines. It was an inauspicious start to his career but Menard would go on to run three full seasons on the Midwest tour before he started working his way up toward the Cup series. Scott Wimmer came into this race hot off winning his first ASA race four days earlier. His first NASCAR Midwest start in a year and a half sees him finish 10th to claim his only top-10 finish in this series. 2. Schendel had to make the show by finishing 3rd in the 13-car last chance qualifying race that saw just four drivers transfer in that way (though the next four finishers were added via the promoter's option) and promptly became involved in the day's first caution. Five cars wrecked in turns 1 and 2 and Schendel had the most spectacular exit of that group, tearing the front bodywork completely off his car and sending his hood fluttering away from the track. 4. rm posted: 10.27.2020 - 8:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brad Wagner won the pole (8-car invert) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
