Nathan Haseleu wins as the NASCAR Midwest series makes its only visit to
the short-lived Chicago Motor Speedway.

This race was run in conjunction with a NASCAR Craftman Truck Series'
event the same day. I wonder if Haseleu's victory here may played a role
in Jack Roush's decision to give him a shot at the higher level the
following season.

Short track ace Bobby Gill makes his only Midwest series start and leads
the race before falling out. He was a regular in the USAR Hooters Pro
Cup series at the time.

Tim Rothe tallies his only top-5 finish.

NASCAR All Pro / Southeast champion Wayne Anderson makes his only
Midwest series start and finishes in the top-10.

Haseleu won the pole with a speed of 116.868 mph (12 car invert - didn't
know they did inverts at tracks this large, must have been a carryover
from ARTGO's days)

Menard - $2,350
Lemke - $2,425
Kvapil - $2,325
Schendel - $2,150
Kraus - $1,800

Margin of victory - 3.2 seconds

Don't have exact laps for cautions, but they all came early and the race
wound up being won during a rare round of green flag pit stops, with
Nathan Haseleu undercutting then-leader Brian Hoppe and pulling away for
the win over the last third of the race.
