Ron Breese was elated to win the race named in honor of his close friend
Al Schill Jr., who died after a Midwest Series race 4 years prior.

On the opening start, Eric Fransen failed to accelerate and caused a
full-field stackup behind him. The race was given a full restart and
Fransen recovered to finish in the top 10 despite the early problem.
