Tiny Lund was listed as a belated entry in a 1972 Pontiac Firebird, but he had to withdraw when the race was postponed from Saturday night by rain. Lund was competing in the USAC stock car race at Pocono on Sunday instead, where he finished 10th and collected more money (okay, fine, 50 whole dollars) for finishing 20+ laps down there than Bobby Isaac did for winning this race at Hickory. Margin of victory - 13.5 seconds Caution info: First - laps 74-79 - 14 accident turn 4 Second - laps 154-168 - 49 oil on track Laps completed: Parsons - 298 (running) Myers - 297 (running) Langley - 296 (running) Bobby Allison was running third when his engine let go. 5.
