Cale pit on the one to go signal and emerged from the pits as the green flag waved, leaving him 8 seconds back by the checkered flag. Having pit as soon as possible, Buddy replaced his worn set of tires with four fresh ones and essentially cruised for the last few laps when Cale took himself out of the race for the win. Bobby Isaac was noted as crashing into the turn one wall when Buck Baker had an engine unwind early on in the race. If the crash was indeed a big one, the Bud Moore team either repaired it quickly or the crash itself happened later on and did not bring out a caution. Is it possible that Isaac may have been in the support-series late model Sportsman race? A brief recap of that race mentions that frontrunner Wayne Ellis stacked the field up on the second lap when he blew an engine and collected several other leaders in the wake of his oil and smoke. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
