He avoids going winless after winning three straight championships. Aube took the lead early after giving a nudge to Joe Bessey coming out of turn four and wouldn't be denied the rest of the race. Kelly Moore came closest to wrestling the lead away after a restart. He was on the outside of Aube at the line, but Aube held the lead by less than a foot. Aube would motor away from everyone after that. Ricky Craven ran in the top three all race long until about three laps to go when he looped his car coming out of the second turn. Not sure if he broke something, but he just lost it. No contact. This may have been Mike Weeden's only pole in the series. There appeared to be no DNQs. The top six made the race via time trials while the other 20 went to the heat races, 10 in each race. There were two heat races, running 12 laps each. Joey Kourafas led every lap to win the first heat race. He was followed by Dick McCabe, Billy Clark and Jeff Barry. Kelly Moore claimed the second heat race. Dale Shaw was second, Peter Daniels third, Dave Dion fourth and Jerry Marquis fifth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
