The Busch North season comes down to an exciting final battle as Dick
McCabe, Joe Bessey, Kelly Moore, and "Magic Shoes" Mike McLaughlin all
came into the last race with a title shot. Bessey won the battle,
sneaking past Curtis Markham to win the race right at the end, but lost
the war as Dick McCabe's sixth place finish gave him just enough points
to edge Bessey for the title by just six markers.

This was the first of two titles for McCabe, a feat made more impressive
by the fact that racer #0 missed four races this season.

Joey Kourafas, Busch North's inaugural champion back in 1987, makes his
final start in the series.
