Steve Park's victory here, his second and last of the 1996 season,
marked the last major stock car victory for a driver racing an
Oldsmobile. While the brand's winning days in NASCAR, and ARCA, were
over GM would put the them back on track as an engine supplier for IMSA
and IndyCar where they would continue to have success.

Actually Kip Stockwell's only career win in his NASCAR Busch North
Series (now K&N Pro Series East) debut, in the initial race at Thunder
Road in 1997, would be the last true major stock car victory for
Oldsmobile, RaceFanX. That race happened a year later, and drivers would
still race in an Oldsmobile in the series until 1999 (albeit with almost
no success).

This race would see the penultimate victory for Oldsmobile in both the
Busch North Series and all of the major stock car racing sanctions.

And something to note about Kip's win: His team had acquired their #96
Olds from Allen Avery after the 1996 season. So it's quite possible that
Park's two wins came in the same car that Stockwell drove to victory in
1997.
