Don't know why it was called a "150" (perhaps qualifying heats or some pre-race local touring series) 2. They've done it before. I finished watching the Qualifying race. I'll recap the actual race in the future. For this race, like many races from this era, there was a 20-lap Qualifying Race to make the main event. Only two cars advanced from the qualifying race to the main event. There were also four provisional spots. The top 20 fastest qualifiers made the race on time. It was surprising to see defending champion Kelly Moore in the qualifying race. He and Bryan Wall crashed on the front stretch coming to complete the first lap. Both cars were taken to the garage. On the final lap, Barney McRae and Scott Bouley spun entering turn one. McRae got away, but Herb Drugg slammed into the side of Bouley, breaking Druggā??s radiator. The two to race their way in: 1. Jamie Aube, 2. Mike Duquette Made the race on provisionals: Kelly Moore, Bill Penfold, GeGe Gravel and Eric Bodine Failed to qualify (Iā??m trying to provide more info on these): John Swanson 25 New England Pontiac Dealers Pontiac Bryan Wall 77 Auto City Ford Herb Drugg 90 Chevrolet Joe Barnes 67 Buick Barney McRae 5 Pontiac Scott Bouley 26 Buick Rit Dulac 12 Chevrolet 3. Marquis would continue but Crouch was penalized with a stop-and-go penalty. About lap 96, Marquis had worked his way back into the top 10, but blew a tire and backed into the outside wall in turn three. The biggest problem with Riverside Park was that the pits were not accessible during the race. They had a gate along the backstretch wall with no other opening. During the race, if you cut a tire, you were done. So all of the guys with DNFs listed as ā??tireā?? plus Marquis, who was fine except for a blown tire, were all screwed at Riverside Park, but would have continued at probably any other track. Same for Bill Penfold. If he could have gotten to the pits, they could have ripped the dangling sheetmetal from his right fender. About lap 120, Dave Dion and Brad Leighton got together coming off turn four while fighting for second. Leighton spun through the infield. Dion continued. Half a lap later, Andy Santerre and Babe Branscombe made contact in turn two. Branscombe spun and Santerre continued. The green stayed out for both events. Just before the white flag was to wave, they yellow was displayed for debris on the back stretch. That set up a green-white-checkered finish. Bobby Dragon held off Dave Dion for the G-W-C to win. Santerre and Mike Stefanik finished side-by-side for third with Stefanik getting it by inches. Santerre was originally awarded third before Stefanik was awarded the spot. 4.
