Reigning champion Dave Dion leads flag to flag and wins from the pole.
This was his only Busch North win at NHIS, his only career victory on a
superspeedway, and the first of a career-high four triumphs for him in 1997.

NASCAR All Pro series standout Wayne Anderson crosses over for the first
of his three Busch North starts. The Floridian posted a top-20.

Former Busch North regular Joe Bessey had already moved up to a
full-time campaign in the NASCAR Busch Grand National series for 1997
but came back to do a one-off here. The Maine racer finished just
outside the top-10 as he made his final North start in a non-companion
race.
