At least two other cars caught air in the wreck, including one that caught big air as Williams ran up the back of him. It started when Travis Benjamin got together with Scott Bouley who spun and triggered a 10-car wreck that blocked the track just past the blind corner at the top of the esses. They just piled in. The wreck brought out an extended red flag. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjpp4Nfu7Ow 2. They needed to fix the wall, but Dennis was alright. For the second year in a row, Brad Leighton goes from the top five to the turn 1 gravel pit with just a couple laps to go. Last win for Bryan Wall. 3. chevyfan98 posted: 10.30.2016 - 9:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) To my knowledge, this is the last time a car flipped out of the track surface in any NASCAR series. I could be wrong though. 4. rm posted: 05.02.2017 - 3:45 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) First caution - laps 2-3 - 12, 13, 16, 18, 21, 26, 47, 56, 93, 94, 98 accident esses/backstretch (red flag) Second caution - laps 5-6 - 1 stalled inner loop Third caution - laps 15-19 - 60 on fire turn 1 (Shaw originally pulled into the very dry grass that was still in turn 1 at the time and had to pull away because he had started to set the grass on fire!) Fourth caution - laps 34-36 - 86 accident esses (red flag to replace the guardrail, drivers were allowed out of their cars to cool off) Fifth caution - laps 60-63 - 09 stalled backstretch Sixth caution - laps 64-68 - 54, 55 spun turn 1 Lap leaders - Quarterly 3; Laps led - Quarterly 48 To the rear - 56 - engine change, 47 - transmission change Troy Williams, the driver that flew out of the park, mentioned in his interview after the crash that if they had crashed just a couple hundred feet sooner, at most, he would have flipped down the 20-30 foot embankment next to the infield tunnel. As scary as this wreck was, it could have been significantly worse. 5. For some reason I got a kick out of Dennis taking off half his firesuit (he had an undershirt on) before he got in the ambulance. It was as if he was saying, 'Hey, my day's over, no real need to stick around any longer'. 6. Nobody slowed down at the accident scene and cars just started stacking em up, and some did somersaults in the air and leapt over the race track fence. Thankfully everyone was alright, it's just funny to laugh at looking back. Martin Truex Jr was involved. 7.
