Busch had been the sponsor since the series made its 1987 debut as the Busch North series and continued supporting the series through its first two seasons as the "East" series. Camping World became the series' new sponsor for 2008. In the race itself Sean Caisse beats Joey Lagano to score a victory in his final Busch East race as a regular before moving up the ladder. It was Caisse's seventh and to date final win in the series. This was also Lagano's final race in the series as he moved up for 2008. 2. This race came down to a two-car shootout with Logano and Sean Caisse. After the restart with nine to go Caisse quickly passed Jeffrey Earnhardt to take second then ran down Logano. Caisse put the bumper to Logano and took the lead, never relinquishing it as he drove to the win. Logano fell to third behind Earnhardt after the contact then muscled passed Jeffrey back into second where he would finish. Earnhardt held off Jesus Hernandez' last charge to complete the podium. Chevrolets won all 13 Busch East races during this season. HDNet televised this race live. Remember them? 6. rm posted: 11.20.2020 - 3:06 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ah, HDNet. Back when that was a luxury to have for a channel! Can't say I remember watching any racing on HDNet, but I do remember them carrying some college football and basketball games. From the broadcast: To the rear - 5 - pitting before the green 1 crew chief - Clinton Cram 9 crew chief - Paul Andrews 15 crew chief - Joe Shear Jr. 52 crew chief - Donnie Richeson With sponsorship from the band Smashmouth, John Freeman had a solid run and led some laps under caution before crashing out. It was mentioned by the broadcasters that one of the band's members was going to run the car in an East race in 2008...anyone have any more info regarding that, mmm, stunt? Tim Andrews didn't have a great weekend, grenading a motor in open practice and sending the team into disarray until they were able to secure a motor from Sean Caisse's Santerre backup car. That engine ran great - up in the top 5, top 10 the entire first half of the race - until it suddenly didn't. Just as the caution came out for the wreck by Antonio Perez, Andrews took the car to the garage as it had overheated and cooked Santerre's engine. HDNet played the real time radio chatter from Andrews in the driver's seat and made very belated attempts to censor it, which while not necessarily an issue given the nature of the channel was still surprising (and hilarious, if I do say so myself) to hear on a live television broadcast. Similar misgivings by a driver were also played when Matt Kobyluck had a bizarre crash under caution, as Jesus Hernandez had punted him into the outside wall due to a lack of paying attention as the field slowed. Kobyluck's irate crew chief suggested on TV that it had been intentional by Hernandez. Jeffrey Earnhardt drove to a podium finish in the same car that his uncle Dale Earnhardt Jr. had driven to a 9th-place finish in the All-Star Race earlier in 2007. The car still featured the familiar all-red Budweiser base scheme, albeit with Bass Pro sponsorship - Jeffrey was just a few months past his 18th birthday at the time of this race. 7.
