Might we see the Truex brothers as teamates in the cup series one day for MWR.... 3. It's the longest streak since 1994 when Jerry Marquis, Andy Santerre, John Preston and Butch Leitzinger claimed their first wins, all in a row (with the combo race of Nazareth in between). Patrick Long was the leader heading into the final turns before Truex got past (contact?). Long fell to fourth. Series debut for Tiff Daniels. West driver Brian Wong debuts in the East series. Rookie Brett Moffitt takes the points lead with his third-place effort. 4. Dodge posted: 06.11.2009 - 6:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Yes there was contact from Truex but that I don't mind. Especially since Patrick Long is only a part-timer in the series. Even though he said something like, "What goes around, comes around." I hope he is not serious. He is the last one to make contact. If you don't race fulltime, you have NO business putting a fender on someone that is a regular going for the Championship. 5. Pretty sad, actually. The 21-car field at Watkins Glen is by far the smallest field in CWSE history at the Glen. There were 28 starters last year, but before that, there were never fewer than 32 cars starting. 1994-2001 averaged 38 cars in this race. The economy and the CWSE spreading itself beyond the Northeast has taken its toll on the guys willing to race every date. 6. It brought symmetry to NASCAR's regional framework, but I agree that it has made the full schedule a trying endeavor cost and logistics-wise for many of the local teams. The economic recession and its effects on motor sport as a whole, of course, bear no repeating. I didn't know that Truex had contact with Patrick Long on the final lap to win, with Long vowing to return the favor at some point during the year. The irony in that exchange is that Long spun Logano out on the last lap of the West race at Sonoma over the weekend for a presumed victory, then had it taken away because of the incident. Despite his unquestionable talent, I have never been a fan, yet I thought he would show more respect for his fellow competitors, especially approaching NASCAR as an outsider of sorts. Hopefully he doesn't try something like that in one of his remaining American Le Mans events. 7. I can't remember the back story behind it, but I believe it had something to do with that particular car being the most road course ready car in the shop. Matt did run a Toyota in the series's next road course race a few months later at Lime Rock Park. 10.
