Second straight win for the Gibbs #18 in this race. David Mayhew finished fifth overall but took the West win, all coming at Iowa. He has taken the West win in the combo the last two years and won the West only race at Iowa in 2009. He is the West points leader. 2. 18fan posted: 05.24.2010 - 11:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The all coming at Iowa refers to all of Mayhew's West wins have come at Iowa. 3. So the race is basically run like it has two classes, there's the overall results but drivers from each series are racing each other for their own championship and have their respective points and top finishes. East drivers took the top 4 positions and 7 of the first 11. 17 year old Max Gresham was the overall winner, his 2nd career and 2nd straight East win in just 3 races this season. Ty Dillon, Austin's younger brother, finished 2nd for his best career finish. He started 39th. Darrell Wallace Jr.'s 3rd has him 2nd in the East standings behind Gresham. It's his 2nd top five this season. Corey LaJoie, son of 2 time Busch champion Randy LaJoie, finishes 4th for his 2nd top five in 4 career East starts. He won the Whelen Southern Modified season opener at Atlanta in just his first career start. Ryan Truex finished 6th overall but was credited with his 2nd top five of the season. 5 drivers have 2 top fives in the first 3 races this year and make up the first 5 drivers in the points standings. It's also their only top tens as they've all finished 14th or worse in their one off race. Dirt guys Kevin Swindell (sprints) and Josh Richards (late models) finished 7th and 8th. DJ Shaw is the only driver with top tens in the first 3 East races after finishing 9th. 4. At the very least, def. the most competitive race we've had at Iowa. Harvick and Logano put on a good show in 2007 but it was those two in a zip code of their own and 2008 (Ickler) and 2009 (Ky. Busch) were simply runaways. 5. RaceFanX posted: 09.25.2010 - 12:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bonus points to Corey LaJoie for running this race in a Ford sponsored by a Toyota dealer. I jokingly call this the "Ed Negre Scenario" and it seems to be a common occurrence in the Busch North/K&N East series. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
