Another win but also another NASCAR title for Dylan K after the K&N West last year. First time ever a driver won the two titles !! Another bad luck to Brett Moffitt. 3. This race was originally supposed to be at Rockingham before that track and NASCAR had disagreements. That race was cancelled and Road Atlanta became a last-minute substitute with this event as an undercard for the 2013 Petit Le Mans, the last American Le Mans Series' race before the merger with Grand-Am to form United SportsCar. I wonder if the venue change had to do with that United SportsCar merger. NASCAR, Grand-Am's owner, aquired all of Don Panoz' ALMS assets including the Road Atlanta and Sebring circuits. 5. This race was supposed to be part of a three series championship weekend at the Rock, with the CARS Pro Cup and the UARA late model series based in the Carolinas. NASCAR announced first that the K&N series was not going to the Rock, then later the same day the CARS and UARA also announced their cancellation. Rockingham simply didn't have the money to pay the purses. That event has been problematic for some time, last year the Southern Mods were supposed to run at the Rock, but there were some scary incidents in testing and it was decided to end the season at Charlotte and bring in the UARA. As for this race being scheduled at Road Atlanta, it was just a matter of the venue being open at the right time, and with the ALMS and its supporting series already there, K&N could fit in very cheaply - all the costs of track rental and workers were already there. NASCAR has been moving towards bringing the K&N series in front of some different crowds rather than a Friday event on a Cup weekend in recent years, too. Had it not been at Road Atlanta, it would have been at Martinsville after the Truck race. 6. nascar_vd posted: 10.19.2013 - 6:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) First career start for: Ryan Mathews, Tomy Drissi and Roddey Sterling. Four différents countries in the four first positions ! 7. The race at Rockingham was supposed to be the first weekend in November, and Road Atlanta was scheduled as the second to last race of the season. When NASCAR cancelled the Rockingham race, they just didn't replace it, and shortened the season by a race instead. 8. numbah10hatah posted: 10.19.2013 - 2:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Of course, the one week I don't pick Kwasniewski to win, he wins. 9. I just hope he can build on this and win a top level champ soon, He should either be moved directly into nationwide or to trucks. He's shown his potential. And I am not being at all biased cause of mine and his name 10. I need to memorize how to correctly spell his last name because he is the real deal and the future. Hope Royal Purple sticks with him and properly finances him into a good Truck or Busch ride, for a team like ThorSport or Turner Motorsports. Doubt they can foot the bill for a full time season with JGR or Penske, and a part time effort for an inexperienced driver for a team like that is the kiss of death. But I think this will go down like Brad's '07 season in that he put himself on the radar, hopefully for good. 2018 Cup champ? 11. Given that NASCAR owns this track now, through its IMSA wing, I wouldn't rule out another one of its series racing here someday although I don't see that happening in the immediate future. 14.
