I thought they were supposed to be full-time this year. 3. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 05.31.2016 - 4:49 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Note: It's just an oversight in encoding with the 24th position of Dominique Van Wieringen and we'll fix that. Sarah Cornett-Ching has never been registered for this race. For some reason I don't know. She had not participated in the optional test track day organized on May 28 by NASCAR. Session organized because Dominion was a new track. Inscribed on the preliminary entry list but never arrived at the circuit = Trey Hutchens # 14 and a second car at Mark Rette (driver TBA), the # 29. Really Withdraw: -Sam Hunt #18 "HSP" (Sam Hunt), Toyota (after the optional test track day Saturday May 28. Session in which he had participated) -Chuck Buchanan, Jr. #19 "Spring Drug" (Chuck Buchanan), Ford (failed in technical inspection Monday May 30) Note: -Old Body style (3 cars): #1, 08, 44 -New Body style (21 cars): #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 09, 12, 13, 15, 28, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 46, 49, 55, 66 (plus WD: #18, 19) 4. She qualified fourth, apparently drew a caution late in the race, and by her own Twitter account "ran well until a late-race incident." So was she completely DQed and hence left off the running order? Because even NASCAR's results don't list the #30 in the finishing order (or a 4th-place starter). More likely a mistake but I'll wait to hear. 5. Lucstar88 posted: 05.31.2016 - 8:31 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 2 people got parked. Been a while since I've seen that. 6. Great race!! A 1.5 hour demolition derby, NASCAR style, just feet off of I-95 South, enough said! UPDATE #2: 10:44AM EST: NASCAR VP of Licensing, Brett Bodine, indicated that they are looking hard at brinqinq the NASCAR Trucks to Dominion Raceway in order to alleviate the crowded Martinsville pits. ARCA Racing also considering brinqinq their 3,400 lb car to Dominion's 2.1 mile roval after looking at the past-capacity 6,100 person crowd. -AP, Newswire. 7. Benjamin may have been parked, but he had a great deal of damage, and wouldn't have been able to continue anyway. Bassett may have, but would have needed some repairs. Dominique was running top-five when she had an incident in turns one and two. Harrison Burton had his hood fly up while he was top-ten, which sent him to the pits fairly late. 8. Davis just beat out Justin Haley in a photo finish. Davis' Ranier Racing teammate Kyle Benjamin was fastest in practice, won the pole and led the first 137 laps, but an incident on a late restart ruined his day. I'm not exactly sure what happened to cause NASCAR to park both Benjamin and Ronnie Bassett, but it appears Benjamin had trouble getting up to speed and collected Bassett. Not sure what warranted the harsh penalties. 11. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 05.31.2016 - 4:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Answer: agressive and reckless racing during a caution forced officials to parked both drivers. 12. Jeff posted: 05.31.2016 - 5:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was just reading Speed51's report. Benjamin says he got jacked up on the start and dumped by Bassett. Bassett says the whole field was piling into that group. It sounded a bit like Benjamin and Davis were playing the same game JGR and Penske did at Martinsville this spring and last fall, and lost. Apparently Bassett and Benjamin got snippy with each other, beating the fenders off until NASCAR said no more. Sarah Cornett-Ching said on Twitter earlier in the week (which I missed) that "marketing partners" required that they focus on the Pocono ARCA race and not the Dominion event, so they opted to head for Pocono instead. Admittedly Sarah has been pretty average so far in the K&N cars. 13. Neff posted: 06.01.2016 - 7:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (3) I was just reading Racerap's report. Bassett brothers had been using BORROWED cars after their K&N shop burned to a crisp. Yet, they still drove them like a madman and used the rentals as 3,400# wrecking balls. Dylan Bassett riding the leader's ass on the final restart, while his brother performed a hard-right and pulled an ol' dirt track move whereas he clipped the right rear of leader Kyle Benjamin's #40. Borrowed cars? Burned down race garage? Didn't matter. Bassett denies any involvement in the double-teaming of Kyle Benjamin. 14. numbah10hatah posted: 06.01.2016 - 3:51 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) #12: And Sarah wrecked in practice for the ARCA race, and apparently has to withdraw.
