As for Bubba, I mean... did you watch Sonoma? Definitely isn't going to hurt him to get some practice. Honestly, im shocked we're not seeing Suarez, Byron and Bowman (especially Bowman being right on the cut line) running again. 8. And I don't think it will help them much, anyway - Jeff Gordon didn't run a single Xfinity race on some road course since 1992 and he was the man to beat at those tracks in Cup. Excluding elite equipment, he either had a natural skills on road courses, or he learned to run good on them elsewhere... 9. Since Winston West ran a combo race at Sonoma with Cup at the time, that event was the closest comparison to the K&N West race at Sonoma today. Also in the field that day was Davey Allison - just two months prior to his death - and Kenny Schrader. Terry Labonte had intended to run that race as well before he was injured in a crash. Not sure what point you're trying to make at all there. 11. Get over your saltiness and just admit defeat! "This mindset of today's fans that drivers should stay in "their own series" is so strange." Yeah, Kurt Busch and Fernando Alonso are definitely losers because they ran the Indy 500, they should only stick with Cup and F1 huh? I can only imagine frustration among the fans had they pulled an upset to win. Double standards are indeed real, I don't remember Jeff Gordon or Kyle Larson/Scott Dixon/Jamie Mac/Tony Kanaan getting an ounce of hate when they won the 24 Hours at Daytona either. Honestly, those type of fans are just idiotic retards who like to spout drama for their egoistical fandom reasons. Clearly they think of the same when A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Graham Hill and Dan Gurney were racing a few races here and there outside of their respectable series. #Logic 28. MartinFan6 posted: 08.04.2018 - 7:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) At least when those guys did it, you had multiple cars with a shot of winning from week to week. Now it's the same two or three drivers winning each week, and that's across all forms of racing. That's my biggest beef with racing right now: there's no competition. No real reason to tune in when you already know who's going to win. But all that came with the expansion of NASCAR. I may be in the minority, but I truly believe that corporate sponsorship killed racing, especially NASCAR. It may have benefitted it from a money standpoint, but there's been so much emphasis on money that all these organizations have forgotten the main purpose and backbone of racing: COMPETITION. The lack of competition is my biggest pet peeve. 29. MartinFan6 posted: 08.04.2018 - 7:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm dead serious. Cup guys racing in lower series killed a lot of potentially solid careers, most notably Stephen Leicht. You could add Ross Kenseth and Drew Herring into that mix as well. The point is that when the drivers from higher tier series win all the time in the lower series, nobody benefits. Not the fans, who can't be bothered to care when they know who's gonna win already. Not the networks and channels airing the races, as the lack of competition and parity makes things boring, which thus causes ratings to drop. Not NASCAR itself, which continues to face decreasing attendance. Not the young drivers, who may not ever get a shot if the higher level guys steal all the opportunities. And certainly not the higher level drivers themselves, who already race at the top levels and have nothing to gain from beating a bunch of teenagers. Again, I LIKE Moffitt, but I DON'T like to see the spotlight being stolen from young, up-and-coming drivers who are working hard just trying to get as far as the Truck series. And Moffitt technically is a Cup guy with his experience at MWR and Front Row Motorsports, so... 30. Mannoroth posted: 08.04.2018 - 7:23 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) 28. Dead serious? Sure, pal, sure. Lack of parity isn't something new to NASCAR - 40 or 50 years ago, it was absolutely normal and NASCAR is still around... The same for Cup drivers running lower series races - it's always been this way and no one can change it, because the only solution is to ban them completely, but you will also kill those series, because Cup guys, Cup teams and Xfinity teams with Cup teams alliances are the one with the money. Plus, this is pretty ironical from someone that is a Mark Martin fan, who was actually the first one that popularized the current form of "extra seat time"... And according to your logic, a professional driver should only stick to one series? In that case, many local events would be cancelled, because inviting some very known face helps them to promote the race. Read Sector's comment one more time and properly - he's right. 31. Yeet posted: 08.04.2018 - 10:15 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Brett Moffitt is a truck series driver, he truly never was a Cup driver. Just like how Danica Patrick was never truly a stock car driver, she was (or should've been) known because of her INDYCAR background. I mean for crying out loud, he's running a K&N race. I would care more if it was like Kevin Harvick or something. Moffitt's team can hardly hold itself together, I'm alright with him trying to hold is team together by getting a few extra bucks, but yes Cup racing in K&N is stupid. And I see where your going with Cup drivers ruining careers, JGR and Penske could have a younger rookie and try to have them work their way up, and could still easily win a championship. Instead they put Cup leeches in the cars and look for an Owner's Championship. Also, a lot of cars miss the show because there are so many Cup guys. That's what I think hurts the series the most. I remember one race had 46 entries, and 6 Cup guys. Remove those 6 and we'd have a full field of XFINITY regulars. 32. Mannoroth posted: 08.04.2018 - 11:17 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) 31. What JGR does in Xfinity is still okay, because they're actually trying to give some youngsters a shot, even for a title. Penske is way worse, because Owner's championship is everything for them and way more prestigious than some Driver's championship, so if possible, all the races in #22 have to be run by Keselowski, Logano and Blaney. Occasionally, they put someone else in the car, but it's still mainly those 3 drivers. Plus, they really have to have some kind of crush for Watkins Glen Xfinity race, because both Penske boyz just have to run it no matter what. At least Blaney is normal... 33. gary24fan posted: 08.04.2018 - 11:43 am Rate this comment: (1) (2) @8 he mentioned Jeff Gordon and that got you all butt hurt, is the only point I see. 34. MartinFan6 posted: 08.04.2018 - 11:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) And quite frankly, lack of parity was NOT as much of a problem back then,as at least you occasionally had different winners. NASCAR has enough money to support those lower series on its own anyway. They don't need to have upper series guys steal seat time from younger guys for said series to survive. I don't remember seeing many Cup guys in the K&N Series in, say, 2012. And that was a great points battle between future Cup drivers Larson, Corey LaJoie, Chase Elliott, and Moffitt. 36. By the way, K&N is a regional series, not national, so no matter how many wins you get there, it doesn't count as a professional NASCAR win. It's something like cycling races with 2.2 or 1.2 rating - just a 4th league, which isn't professional. 36. 6 or 60, it doesn't matter. Those cars were driven by the same driver... No exceptions... Look at Kasey Kahne - had a 6-win season and now he's glad he wins even one race. So you have to look at it by just season performance, not by overall performance. And that means Logano has a win just due to the fact there was a superspeedway race and Bowyer has to be thankful that the rain came at Michigan and Harvick didn't pass him in time. Otherwise he would have just that Martinsville win. 45.
