Lot of newcomers. This is Season #32 in the History of the East. First with General Tire the official tire manufacturer in place of GoodYear. 2. But they will be there!!!! 4. Eklund posted: 02.08.2019 - 10:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Will this be tape delayed on nbcsn or on fanschoicetv? 5. RaceFanX posted: 02.08.2019 - 10:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The lead up to this race was a wild one for David Gilliland Racing as the team got busted for violating NASCAR's ban on pre-season testing when its #17 team and driver Ty Gibbs conducted an illegal private test with a K&N East spec engine right here at New Smyrna Speedway, netting them all a three-race suspension to start the season, a 100-point penalty, and a $5,000 fine. However the team is appealing those penalties, claiming the test in question for ARCA racing (which does not limit testing) and not NASCAR, so if the appeal process does not take place before this race they will be allowed to run this event. This is planned to be Gibbs' NASCAR K&N East Series debut. 6. A couple of years ago when NASCAR bought them it looked like they were going to be pay-to-view only, so I'm glad they're back to doing some free shows. That said, they're a pretty amateurish operation. Today, for instance, New Symrna is rained out, but apparently it's too much trouble to put a notice on the website to that effect (in fairness, you'd think the speedway would do the same thing on their twitter, but no. We have incredible technology for communications, but we're far from incredible about using it). 15. pitboss40 posted: 02.10.2019 - 4:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lets go Max Mclaughlin this is going to be a great season. 16. nascarvd posted: 02.10.2019 - 5:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) K&NPS East qualifying has been cancelled due to persistant rain. The field will be set according to practice speeds. Hailie Deegan will lead the field tonight. 17. Jimmie4life posted: 02.10.2019 - 6:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Awesome for Hailie! If she wins, then maybe we can have a good female driver in auto racing. 18. possum posted: 02.10.2019 - 7:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, looking at the weather radar, I don't think this one will happen tonight. No idea what the rainout plan would be, if they'll run it in the day tomorrow, or squeeze it into tomorrow night's program, or what. 19. Christian posted: 02.12.2019 - 7:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I take it DGR's appeal was successful, seeing how Gibbs was allowed to race. 27. Kellen posted: 02.12.2019 - 8:40 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) For the second year in a row Hailie Deegan has electrical issues, which eventually leaves her stranded in turn 4 on the restart after an alternator change during the last caution break. After multiple attempts to get the car bump started with help from the tow truck the team pushed the car behind the wall. 28. VincentJBruins posted: 02.12.2019 - 8:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @Christian - The appeal hasn't actually been heard yet. It's possible, since the suspension was supposed to last for three races, their results for rounds 1 to 3 will be invalidated or the team will have to serve the suspension after the appeal has been heard and the penalty still stands. 29. Corey posted: 02.12.2019 - 9:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @28 Usually when a team files an appeal, any punishments gets put on hold until after the appeal has been heard. I believe this is the process for any legal issues ala Tom Brady and deflated footballs. 30. Met all the drivers at the autograph session. Ty Gibbs was probably the nicest of them all (all were nice btw). He just seemed genuinely like he actually wanted to be there. 33. Kellen posted: 02.13.2019 - 12:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @32 This was my first K&N Race and first time at New Smyrna Speedway. The rain delay to Monday actually made it possible for me to go to this race this year. Really enjoyed it but I still perfer dirt racing at Volusia during speedweeks over New Smyrna even if the track is 10 minutes from my house. 34. NazRacePhan posted: 02.20.2019 - 5:33 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) DGR-Crosley lost its K&N East appeal of 100 points and three-race suspension to car owner David Gilliland and Ty Gibbs for illegal test at New Smyrna. The indefinite suspension for crew chief Chad Walter was rescinded. #nascar 35. Not much of a penalty" Well he is suspended for the next 3 rounds as is car owner David Gilliland... and they were each fined $5,000 and 100 points. Pretty big penalty i'd say... 37. nascarvd/racing-reference.info posted: 02.26.2019 - 11:50 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Note: all cars with new body composit style.
