Track position was king for the most part, cars like the McAnally group that qualified in the back were basically stuck there McLaughlin led the first 90 laps or so, got passed by Mayer and dropped like a rock. On the restart after the competition yellow, Cabre drove it in deep and moved Mayer out of the way and held on the rest of the way for his first career win. 3. 34McDowellFan posted: 06.01.2019 - 9:11 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ty Gibbs 2nd again poor guy lol 4. Is there a particular reason that a casual fan like myself would not be aware of? 8. Sebastian posted: 06.03.2019 - 7:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @7 NASCAR priced them out of this series. They are racing for about a $10k purse with budgets of national touring series. The only people that can afford it are teams associated with Cup/xfinity teams 9. We use to get 25-30 plus cars on the regular but nascar changed the identity of the old busch north and winston west series. 10. possum posted: 06.03.2019 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @9 - I don't think it's as simple as that. Go back to the early 90s, and you had the BGNN and WW sanctioned by NASCAR, ARCA, and the ASA, ACT, and All-Pro, all running basically the same car (ASA used fiberglass bodies, the rest steel, but they were otherwise pretty much the same). Add to that the USAR Pro-Cup (Hooters Cup) in the mid-90s. Most of those are gone, now - ASA folded, ACT now runs late models, All-Pro was bought by NASCAR (the "Elite Division") and then cancelled, USAR now calls itself CARS and runs late models. And even the K&N series is closer to being late models than Cup style cars now. So, for whatever reason, interest in running Cup style cars has been falling for many years. Cost is probably a big part of it. And, perhaps, declining fan interest in racing in general. Either way, late models is clearly the future. 11. It looks like Cars and PASS are putting together good series, but series with all the SLM Crown Jewels would be better than any other asphalt oval series around. Then they could get TV/Sponsors and the drivers/teams would come and it would have more of a 80's/90's nascar feel Would never happen... but one can dream 12. If Brad Smith who has been racing in ARCA since 1988 had entered this race, he woulda only had to beat 2 cars to tie his best career finish of a 12th in 1988. And if he could just finish ahead of 4 cars... get his first career top 10 ever! 14.
