Road course ringer Tom Hubert makes his NASCAR Northwest Tour debut and
scores the victory. This was Hubert's only win in NASCAR touring series
competition.

NASCAR Busch Series racer Buckshot Jones crosses over to come road
racing in Portland. Buckshot qualified fifth and finished there in what
would be his only appearance on the Northwest Tour.

This race shared a Saturday undercard for a CART race with the
short-lived North American Touring Car Championship.

Oregon's homestate hero Hershel McGriff makes his only NASCAR start of
the year in any series and leads a few laps before a carburetor failure
puts his #7 Chevrolet on the sidelines.

27 status - accident

Sixth caution - 25, 27 & others accident frontstretch

A massive stackup on the frontstretch when attempting to restart the
race on lap 50 collected at least the top seven cars, causing race
control to abort the restart and continue under caution. Before even
hitting the start-finish line on Portland's long front straightaway, the
leaders began to wreck and Tom Hubert was the first car to make it to
the stripe, finding himself all alone by the time he made it to turn 1
despite being lined up in 8th originally. Ken Bailey apparently got the
worst of it, being punted by multiple cars before finally coming to a
rest just over the start-finish line.
