California racer Rudy Revak makes his lone start of the 1998 Northwest
Tour season and wins it in wild fashion with a last lap pass. It was
Revak's only win of the season. Ron Eaton actually crossed the finish
line first but lost due to being black flagged a lap earlier and
refusing to pit for his penalty.

The ending of this race was chaotic. Bryan Germone led as the race
restarted with two to go. Eaton was in second and the two made contact
with Germone going into the barriers and Eaton unable to make a turn
leading to him cutting a corner but coming away with the lead. The move
earned him the penalty that cost him the race

Jim Inglebright had the best car and led the most laps. His shot for the
win ended long before the crazy ending though. His car got stuck in
fourth gear late in the race forcing him to pit to fix it with eight to
go, dropping him out of contention.

This was Revak's only Northwest Tour victory, in fact in five starts
(most on the road course here at Portland) it was the only time he
finished better than 15th.

Kazoo Yanagawa becomes the first Japanese racer to compete in a NASCAR
Northwest Tour race...but retires early after his Chevrolet had a
suspension failure.

First caution - 16 off track
Second caution - 07 off track
Third caution - 35 flat tire
Fourth caution - 31, 49, 87 accident pit exit
Fifth caution - 4 accident (He hit so hard he broke a concrete barrier
and knocked it back nearly a foot)

51 DNF reason - accident (he did not finish the race, he sat crashed at
the front straightaway runoff)

Sorry for no locations on most cautions, not familiar with the track and
the broadcast never really specified what turns each incident occurred in.

Race was scheduled for 52 laps and was extended to 54 via a
green-white-checkered

Jack Arute and Tommy Kendall were the commentators. Gary Gerould was the
sole pit road reporter.
