Petty passed fellow invader Jim Inglebright, making his last Northwest start as well, about a third of the way into the race and never surrendered the lead again on the way to victory. Matt Kelley finished second to claim his only top-5 finish in this series. 2. rm posted: 10.26.2020 - 10:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Portland doubleheader preview states that the course was measured at 1.95-miles, just like it was for the Truck race. The race was scheduled for 52 laps but was shortened due to rain. The start of the race was delayed for over an hour due to a popup storm during the pace laps. Third caution - 42 off track Fourth caution - rain Petty was one of two cars running that did not pit under the lap 17 caution for Rick Allison's accident. Playing the track position game worked out when the rain returned shortly after the restart, and after a long red flag (the red flag lasted longer than the rest of the race itself) the race was set to be decided by a green-white-checkered with darkness looming. Second-place finisher Kelley was equally pleased with the turn of events, having been buried outside the top 30 in qualifying after he and his team badly missed the setup. He ran one full season on the Northwest tour and this was his best finish and lone top five. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
