This was Quesnell's only victory in the series. 2. rm posted: 10.27.2020 - 12:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Gary Lewis won the pole (4-car invert) Zaretzke, Hall, Stewart & Lewis status - crash Starting 23rd in a field of 28, Kevin Quesnell may have set the series mark for the deepest starting position by a race winner in this race. At least from a cursory glance at the season overviews here, it appears this may be the case. Even more impressive was that he dropped from to the rear, on the inside of the last row, after a clutch problem in qualifying forced the team to make hasty repairs. It wasn't completely without controversy, though, as Quisnell took the lead when he turned then-leader John Zaretzke around while they were navigating lapped traffic. Zaretzke did a quick 360 and got back going without issue. His plea for a caution was answered just a couple laps later, but he was the caution when he made an overly-aggressive move to get by Gary Lewis for second and found himself in a multi-car wreck. Zaretzke made the pass on Lewis, indeed, but it was in the form of being the only car involved able to limp across the line and into the pits before retiring. Defending series champion Pete Harding rolled from the top spot, leading the first three laps, but he hit pit road shortly thereafter as the first victim of the high attrition on the night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
