John Bender started 17th in the #80 KZOK FM Chevrolet with status - crash. Wilbur Bruce started 11th in the #38 Majestic Bay Pontiac with status - crash. Gary Lewis won the pole (4-car invert; his tenth(!!!) pole of the season) Fourth caution - 2, 38, 80 accident turn 2 Fifth caution - 47 spun turn 2 Seventh caution - 97 spun turn 3 Leader Joe Benedetti lost an engine in front of the field and caused a stackup behind him. Rough way to end the season. The championship may have come down to a duel between tire manufacturers in the final race of the season. Gary Lewis, by far the most dominant car of the season, developed a slow leak on his right rear tire in the closing laps. Garrett Evans had been able to save his tires most of the race and pounced late. Evans thanked Hoosier in victory lane for bringing him a tire that was good all race long, and Goodyear for bringing Lewis a very soft tire that was good for about a hundred laps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
