Note n°1: Jack McCoy was the fastest qualifier with a time of 117.99
sec (76.278 mph) on the second qualifying session. Note: the top10 was
determined in the first qualifying session).
Note n°2: Dave James #04 was relieved by Cliff Garner during first pit
stop lap 20.

Ray Elder takes the victory as the West series makes its first trip to
the iconic road course at Sonoma. Sears Point Raceway was brand new at
the time, it had opened just seven months earlier.
