First Winston West race at Altamont Speedway

Ray Elder kicks off his 1973 title defense effort by dominating the race
and winning the season opener. He'd go on to win four races during this
season.

This actually was NOT the first West race at Altamont but it was the
first at the track since 1968, marking the series' return after an
absence of almost five years. This was also the first West race at the
track since the infamous Altamont Free Concert was held at the track in
December 1969.
