How did the leader lead 177 laps if it was only a 100 lap race?

Jimmy Insolo picks up the win as the Winston West series races at
California's Clovis Speedway for the final time. The track closed
forever at the end of its 1976 season due to the City of Clovis' new
noise regulations that it had no chance of complying with, apparently
the property was fully converted into a rodeo ground afterward.
