An odd 1976 Winston West season begins with the annual January companion
race with the Cup series at Riverside. The series wouldn't run another a
race until June when the Cup guy returned for another companion race but
still had a 13-race season.

Jimmy Insolo wins the West series part of this race, the only West
victory he'd score in 1976.
