Ray Elder's last West race as a regular. He returned for just one more
race in 1983

Just noticed, I think the other DNQ's I listed after Steve Pfeifer, and
were here at one time, somehow got moved to the second race of the year
at Roseville.

Before this race, a freight train carrying a shipment of Goodyear tires
went missing somewhere in Oklahoma and the tires never showed up. Teams
were forced to race with used Goodyears, McCreary Tires, or Firestone.
Richard Petty won the race with tires he used at Ontario the week before.
