Just bypassing turn 7 would be a lot longer than 1.7 or 1.8 miles. 3. I've looked quite a bit and have no clue what this circuit's layout was. 4. RaceFanX posted: 04.26.2016 - 1:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The road course used parts of the drag strip in this era. Could they have just gone straight down it and connected with the later portions of the normal road course after the carousel? 5. schraderfan posted: 04.27.2016 - 9:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The chute didn't exist yet, so they had to go uphill from turn 6. They could have gone the drag strip straight uphill from the start/finish line to turn 7. That might fit the high lap speeds. 6. That would have been cool to watch if that's how they did it. 7. schraderfan posted: 04.27.2016 - 9:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) According to http://www.autoracinglegendsofcalifornia.com/sears-point-international-raceway/ "the shortened course substituted the long drag strip for the hilly section and proved very pobupar with the drivers". So that seems to be indeed the case. Possibly the 1.8 mile version went up to turn 7 and the 1.7 mile version had a right hand hairpin before that. 8. schraderfan posted: 04.27.2016 - 9:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) popular... 9. The California racer would be more successful in the later years racing in the Southwest Tour. 11. This was McGriff's third, and last, victory at Sears Point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
