3-time champ Jim Robinson makes his final Winston West start in this
companion race and wins as he is the highest Winston West finisher.

Robinson was horribly injured the following year during a NASCAR
Southwest Tour race run as part of the Copper World Classic when he was
spun at speed going down the backstretch and met the angled Phoenix wall
(later straightened in a 2000s reconfiguration) driver's side first.
Robinson would end in a coma from which he would never recover and
passed away in 1995.

Dang, this was a loaded field. Included former open wheel and Formula
One racer George Follmer in one of his final races.

It also says Ernie Irvan's sponsor was Dale Earnhardt. Was that on his car?

Yes it was. The Intimidator ran a Chevrolet dealership at the time and
sponsored Irvan's car for a few races in 1987 to promote that business.
This race saw Ernie driving a silver car Monte Carlo with Earnhardt's
signature plastered across the quarter panels.

@5 - Earnhardt was well known in the garage, especially in the late
80's-early 90's, for his willingness to help small-team and
up-and-coming drivers with parts, tools, and advice. And occasionally
sponsorship - Joe Nemechek and Dave Marcis I recall (besides Irvan), and
I think there were others in the Busch series too.
