Hershel McGriff's last true Winston West win, his final two victories
were being the highest finishing Winston West driver in companion races
with Winston Cup and ARCA.

Young racer Deake Lyndall scores a top-5 start and a top-10 finish in
his only Winston West race. Lyndall was a rising star and scheduled to
make his Cup debut at Sonoma less than month after this race but would
be killed along with his father and two in a private plane crash just 11
days after this event.

At 61 is Hershel McGriff the oldest driver to win any sort of NASCAR
sanctioned race?

Ken Schrader won an ARCA race at 60, so he was close. I bet between all
the lower division series, there have been some older winners.
