As such it was the last time Winston West racers had a chance to race alongside Richard Petty. As the highest finishing driver this counted as Krebs' third and final Winston West victory. Rick Carelli was injured in a Southwest Tour race leading up to this event. He started and parked his #37 in this race as part of an effort to secure his position as Winston West's 1992 Rookie of the Year. Butch Gilliland ran this companion race with his normal Winston West number, #24. It becomes notable because in doing so he became the last driver to use in a Cup event before Jeff Gordon's debut in the following Cup race. The high level NASCAR drivers dominated the race, as they always did. Rusty Wallace had the best car but had battery issues foil his shot at victory. With Rusty out of contention Davey Allison took the victory. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
