Jones with Hornaday taking the lead at the start with Jones in hot pursuit throughout the race. Hornaday dominated the race as he held off all Jones' attacks en route to taking the victory. This was Hornaday's first win of any kind at Cajon Speedway in seven years. Jeff Davis and John Krebs also briefly led the race, but only as a result of pit stops by the leaders, with the race ending under caution after Krebs spun late in the event. This was the first NASCAR West race after the inaugural Brickyard 400, which counted for West series points although only points leader Mike Chase made the field there. That was a blessing and a curse for Chase, who broke a few ribs crashing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the race and had to play hurt here as a result. Chase turned in a respectable run to bring home a top-5 and continue his championship battle with Hornaday. Bill McAnally blew an engine after just five laps and it sent his red #12 spinning to the sidelines with some small flames and a lot of smoke coming out of the front of the Mega Power Chevrolet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
