Pappy Pryor makes his final Winston West start at the age of 67

Also the second and final West race for Motohiro Nakaji. He would go on
to run the NASCAR exhibition at Montegi later in the year.

Andy Houston's first of two Winston West starts results in his lone
series win. His other start was the series' one-off in 1999 held at Montegi

Indy/Motocross racer Jeff Ward's lone NASCAR start

Also the only West start of 1998 for ARCA racer Bobby Gerhart

Hank Parker, Jr. makes his lone Winston West start, driving a second
Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet as a teammate to Kevin Harvick. Parker
qualified in the top-10 and turned in a solid run as he also finished
there.

Andy Houston was a NASCAR Truck Series regular at the time of this race
with he and the Addington Racing team deciding to enter this race since
it was on the undercard for that series' season finale. Houston's
victory here lead into the truck race where he would qualify well but
ultimate finish just outside the top-10.
