Greg Pursley wins again and Derek Thorn gets his best career finish.

AB, Eric Holmes was actually penalized 100 points for a carb. issue at
Sonoma, so he is 7th in points with 882 markers.

Thanks Timmy -- I've made the correction.

Pursley did a great job toward the end of the first half of saving
tires, allowing Self to take the lead. Pursley then was able to take it
to them in the second half, although Self had something for him until
the last caution came out.

Derek Thorn maybe had a 4th place car at best but had a great drive to
finish 2nd.

I was not impressed at all with Kwasniewski. He went straight backwards
in the first half after holding up a train of five cars and then with by
far the fastest car in the second half he had no clue how to use it and
ran his tires off in 50 laps and only finished in the top 5 because of
the moving chicanes getting in the way of Holmes, Self, and Borneman.

Greg Pursley is killing it this year. Hee picks up his 5th win of the
season and 7th top 5 in 7 races; his average finish is 1.7 with a worst
finish of 4th so now he has a 278 point lead (old point system) at the
halfway point of the season. Just crazy.

It's Pursley's 8th career West Series win.

the speed broadcast of these races is usually condensed. they skipped
laps 20 to 60, and thus the big crash on lap 24 was completely skipped

John Wood's first West start in over 14 year, dating back to Mesa Marin
in 1997. Enough time had passed that Mesa Marin was razed for over 5
years by the time Wood returned to the series.
