Great to see coverage of this series, and also great to see it again support the Sprint Cup. 2. He had a strong car the second half of the race and nobody could catch him. 3. cjs3872 posted: 11.13.2011 - 12:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Interesting that, since the no. 9 was being used by another competitor, Chase Elliott used Casey's no. 94 in this race [Casey died before Chase was even born]. Since there is no more All-Star Showdown at Irwindale, CA, this race was about as close as it gets, with the east taking on the west. Interestingly, this was a good race for the sons of racing stars. Ryan Blaney, son of Dave and nephew of Dale [who actually ran in NASCAR years before Dave did], won the race, Chase Elliott, son of Bill, who won the second Cup race at Phoenix in 1989, was third, and Chad Boat, son of 1998 Indianapolis 500 pole sitter Billy, was eighth. Boat was driving a car owned by Curb Motorsports. His father, toward the end of his career, made frequent bump day appearances at Indy driving for Curb and Cary Agajanian, J.C.'s son, hence the no. 98. 4. dUDE gUY posted: 11.13.2011 - 12:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Daniel Suarez looked like he may have a car that could compete for the win, but almost spun himself out late trying to pass Alex Bowman. The race stayed green, but Suarez still managed to finish sixth. 5. 18fan posted: 11.13.2011 - 12:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Suarez also didn't go on a restart while running 2nd and was lucky to not get plowed into. 6. potatosalad48 posted: 11.13.2011 - 1:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ryan Blaney wins a wreck-fest at Phoenix and Greg Pursley is champion 7. There was so much speed-e-dry put down from all the wrecks that I thought the Cup race on the following day was going to turn into a dirt track race. Brennan Newberry... I don't know what he was thinking. He pushed a car into the first turn and created a four-car pileup. Completely unnecessary and avoidable. Maybe he was getting his driving tips from Brian Vickers. Pretty good race at the end. Some good battles for the lead. I was pulling for Bowman, but it was nice to see Ryan Blaney pull out the win. 9. bob posted: 11.15.2011 - 3:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) brennan newberry drove like brian vickers in this race. he will be attempting his truck series debut at homestead-miami. he was originally planned to make his truck debut at new hampshire earlier this year, but wrecked his only truck in practice. i sense a pattern here... 10.
