The West series makes its return to Bakersfield, CA for its first race
at the brand-new Kern County Raceway Park. The new track was built as a
replacement for the former Mesa Marin Raceway that was demolished after
the 2005 racing season.

In the race itself Greg Pursley leads the most laps on the way to
scoring the inaugural victory.

With the East series done for the year Gray Gaulding crosses over and
wins his first West series pole.

Jason Fensler makes his 2013 season debut and finishes in top-10.

Autograph session = an obligation by NASCAR rules book like the
driver/crew chief meeting and the opening pre race ceremony.

Great race and another win for Greg Pursley but it's probably too late
for winning the championship once again this year.

Derek Thorn realize a 14th top10 in as many races !

Yes Brian Ickler was on the preliminary entry list with NTS Motorsports
(#29 Chevrolet owned by Bob Newberry). But they did not ultimately
participated ... It is a pity ...

This track was in the works for a number of years but financial problems
and some disagreements among business partners prevented construction
from being completed and the construction site sat idle with a
half-completed track on it. Thankfully somebody stepped up and made sure
the track got finished.

Post #2 ARCA also has "mandatory" autograph sessions, but Roger (Carter,
the team I work for in ARCA) skipped a couple this year and ARCA never
said anything. Pro Series must be really be sticklers about it. They do
it to bring the drivers to the fans, to help promote the up and coming
drivers.

I'm just pissed that this was probably one of the most important K&N
races this year, considering the significance of the track/event, yet
FOX didn't cover it.

This race was livestreamed on NascarHomeTracks.com, and will be aired on
tape delay on FS1 at a later date.
